About 42 Dugg

A native of Detroit’s infamous East Side, 42 Dugg first started rapping while serving a six-year prison sentence he began at 15 for carjacking which was then extended for fighting in prison. Spending a month in solitary confinement on two occasions, this was time he spent writing lyrics and working on his rhymes. After serving his sentence, 42 Dugg began working on his rap career, he released his first single “Mama I’m Sorry,” in January 2018. He continued self-releasing music such as the 11241 Wayburn mixtape and his collaborations with other Detroit rappers like Babyface Ray and the 42 Twinz, this gained him the attention of national stars. Early singles like “The Streets” led to Yo Gotti signing 42 Dugg to his Collective Music Group label, coupled with a joint agreement allowing him to also sign to Lil Baby’s 4PF label as well. This ramped up his career to another level leading up to his first album Young and Turnt, featuring tracks with Yo Gotti, Lil Baby, Blac Youngsta, Babyface Ray, Tee Grizzley and Peewee Longway. A year later he released his freestyle-based album Young & Turnt 2. He then continued releasing singles leading up to his next album, Free Dem Boys. The theme of this album being freedom from legal persecution for himself and friends highlighted in tracks, “Free RIC (feat. Lil Durk)”, “Free Merey”, “Free Woo”, “Free Skeet”, “Judge Please” and “Free Me”. In 2022, Dugg created “Thump Shit” and “Everybody Shooters Too” with EST Gee. Being recently released from incarceration, 42 Dugg recently hosted a star-studded and sold-out homecoming concert at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit. The epic night included rap A-listers like Meek Mill, Yo Gotti, Lil Baby, Lil Durk, Jeezy and more. 42 Dugg’s raw and ruthless rhymes have made him a fast success in the industry. The most popular track he’s appeared on to date being Lil Baby’s “Grace” which peaked at 83 on the Billboard Hot 100. With his newly regained freedom, 42 Dugg will continue to work on his music, touring, collaborating and releasing new music.
