Bio

Blac Youngsta, born Sam Benson in South Memphis, rose from humble beginnings shaped by poverty and early street life to become a prominent figure in modern hip-hop. Raised primarily by his grandmother and grandfather, he began working at a local grocery store at age seven, though youthful mischief led to his dismissal, eventually pushing him into selling drugs as a teenager. Despite repeated run-ins with the law for gun and drug-related offenses, Youngsta turned his focus toward music, hosting tribute parties in 2011 for neighborhood youth King Craddy and releasing his first mixtapes, including the Fast Brick series in 2012. His talent caught the attention of Yo Gotti, who signed him to Collective Music Group (CMG) in 2015, under which Youngsta launched mixtapes like I Swear to God, Young & Reckless, and Fck Everybody*, while also founding his imprint, Heavy Camp. Transitioning to Epic Records in 2017, he navigated public controversies, including legal issues surrounding a shooting incident with Young Dolph, though charges were ultimately dropped. Musically, Youngsta achieved chart success with his album 2.23 and mixtape Fck Everybody 2*, featuring the crossover hit “Booty,” and followed with projects like Church on Sunday and the collaborative Code Red mixtape with Moneybagg Yo in 2020. In 2022, his third studio album, 4LIFE, highlighted collaborations with Pooh Shiesty, 21 Savage, and Luh Kel, while 2023 and 2024 saw prolific output including Bank Appointment, Blac Sheep 2, and Blac Youngsta Presents: Heavy Camp, Checkmate. Through his music, Blac Youngsta channels his Memphis roots, sharing stories of street hustle, resilience, and triumph, and he continues to expand his influence with new releases and relentless creativity.
