Bio

Elderbrook, the stage name of English electronic musician, singer, songwriter, producer, and DJ Alexander Kotz, has emerged as a visionary force in modern electronic music. Born on December 20, 1992, in London, Elderbrook grew up in a deeply musical household, with a jazz musician father and a classical pianist mother, immersing him in a diverse range of sounds from jazz and funk to classical and pop. As a teenager, he led his own indie band as a guitarist and singer-songwriter and experimented with hip-hop before discovering his creative home in electronic music while studying in Bath, England. After graduating in 2013, he moved to Berlin to further pursue his craft, quickly gaining recognition with his debut EP Simmer Down and the 2015 remix of “How Many Times” with German duo Andhim. Since then, Elderbrook has collaborated with high-profile artists including Gorgon City, Rudimental, Clean Bandit, ZHU, MK, and CamelPhat, achieving global acclaim with the Grammy-nominated deep house hit “Cola,” a collaboration with CamelPhat that topped Billboard’s Dance Club Songs chart. He has released two studio albums, Why Do We Shake in the Cold? (2020) and Little Love, along with EPs including Innerlight, and singles such as “Body,” “Howl,” and “Glad I Found You” featuring George Fitzgerald. Known for his emotive vocals, innovative production, and genre-defying approach, Elderbrook combines heartfelt lyricism with infectious electronic beats, earning him a devoted global fanbase. His sold-out headlining performance at Red Rocks Amphitheater on April 12, 2024, captured in a full-set film by Global Extreme, solidifies his status as a leading figure in contemporary electronic music, continually pushing creative boundaries on stage and in the studio.
