About King Calaway
King Calaway has been taking the world by storm. From their inaugural jam session in Nashville back in 2018, the members of King Calaway swiftly realized how their individual vocal and instrumental talents, coupled with their mutual adoration for harmonies, country, and '70s rock music, seamlessly melded together, forming an instantaneous and enduring musical brotherhood. By October 2019, King Calaway had achieved the milestone of recording and launching their debut album, 'Rivers,' under the BBR Music Group/Stoney Creek Records label. The album accumulated a remarkable 59 million on-demand streams, featuring their chart-topping single, 'World For Two,' which, in its debut week, claimed the coveted title of the #1 most added song on country radio, ultimately amassing 53 million on-demand streams. Buoyed by this wave of success, the band secured impressive opening slots for legendary artists such as Garth Brooks and Gabby Barrett. They also graced the national TV stage with performances on 'The Kelly Clarkson Show,' 'TODAY,' 'The Late Late Show with James Corden,' and 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' However, the band's meteoric rise came to an abrupt halt in March 2020 with the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. Forced into seclusion within the confines of their homes, the band used this unprecedented pause to immerse themselves in the art of songwriting and to refine their skills as musicians. The result was the genesis of an entirely fresh project imbued with a contemporary country sound, borne from the creative talents of members Chris Deaton, Simon Dumas, Chad Michael Jervis, and Caleb Miller. Dumas reflects, "There are songs that particularly encapsulate the past year and a half, capturing our journey as a band. Yet, there are also tracks that resonate universally across all times." In February 2021, the band embarked on a journey to Echo Mountain Studios in Asheville, North Carolina, where they recorded a selection from the multitude of songs they had penned over the preceding year and a half. The fruit of their labor emerged in the form of a four-song EP, 'Midnight,' released on August 27th, 2021. This EP saw the band doubling down on their signature harmonies while infusing them with their original compositions. 'Midnight' soared with lively, California-meets-country rhythms, featuring organic harmonies and lyrics that exuded warmth and relatability, emblematic of the band's growth as songwriters, musicians, and vocalists. Miller emphasized, "We take immense pride in having a record that predominantly showcases our original music as songwriters." The EP also showcased a harder rock edge, highlighting their musicianship in tracks like 'Homegrown' and underlining their prowess as live performers. Jervis noted, "Our aim is for listeners to recognize that they're experiencing a cohesive band, not just a group of studio musicians." Elsewhere on 'Midnight,' the band welcomed fellow BBR Music Group labelmate Lainey Wilson on the playful track 'Good Time To Me.' Deaton added, "Collaborating with Lainey has been an absolute pleasure. She's undeniably one of the most talented singers we've ever had the privilege to work with." Rounding out the project was the sleek and uplifting track 'More People,' embodying the group's mission to create music that is both impeccably crafted and possesses the power to inspire positivity. Dumas remarked, "We've all witnessed the impact of uplifting anthems and how music can motivate people to move forward. We aspire for our music to have that transformative effect on others as well." With gratitude for their past achievements and a keen eye on the horizon, the release of 'Midnight' marks King Calaway's triumphant return, poised to scale even greater heights in their musical journey." In August 2023, King Calaway released a new album titled “Tennessee’s Waiting” while opening for Zac Brown Band on the “From the Fire Tour”. Zac Brown was a producer on the album and co-wrote the song “When I Get Home” with King Calaway. The tour with Zac has given the band a great deal of exposure. King Calaway has been on the rise to fame within the country music world; be sure to give their new record a listen.
