About Mihali
Mihali Savoulidis is a Vermont-based singer, songwriter, and guitarist best known as the frontman of the jam band Twiddle. Born in Maplewood, New Jersey, Mihali was raised in a musical environment that blended his Greek heritage with the eclectic sounds of the 1990s, drawing influences from bands like Bush and Sublime as well as classic reggae. In 2004, he co-founded Twiddle at Castleton State College in Vermont, where the band quickly gained a reputation for their improvisational live performances incorporating genres such as rock, jazz, bluegrass, reggae, and funk. Over the years, Twiddle built a dedicated fanbase known as Frends and performed at renowned venues like Red Rocks Amphitheatre and festivals such as Bonnaroo and Electric Forest. After nearly two decades of touring, Twiddle announced an indefinite hiatus in late 2022 with their final shows taking place in November 2023, allowing Mihali and his bandmates to explore individual creative pursuits and spend more time with their families. Following the hiatus, Mihali embarked on a solo career, releasing his debut album Breathe and Let Go in 2020, which featured collaborations with artists such as Citizen Cope, Matisyahu, G. Love and Special Sauce, and Trevor Hall, and received positive reviews from music publications including JamBase and Live For Live Music. In 2022, he released his second solo album Effection, which explored themes of personal growth and transformation and included collaborations with reggae and roots rock artists such as Iration, Chadwick Stokes, The Movement, The Elovaters, Jacob Hemphill of SOJA, and Iya Terra, leading to tours with SOJA and G. Love and Special Sauce in 2024. Continuing his musical journey, Mihali released his third studio album Before The Dream on May 2, 2025, a fourteen-track project exploring themes of self-reflection and personal insight, featuring collaborations with artists including Little Stranger, Tropidelic, Lily Fangz, G. Love, Brett Dennen, Andy Frasco, Seven Suns, Satsang, and Moon Taxi, and produced by Spencer Thomson of Moon Taxi with additional contributions from DENM and Nathan Feinstein of Aurorawave. Mihali's personal experiences have deeply influenced his music, notably the impact of Hattie, a childhood friend who passed away at a young age, immortalized in songs like Hattibagen McRat, Hatties Jam, and When It Rains It Pours, with her name also living on in Mihali's daughter. Through his work with Twiddle and as a solo artist, Mihali has fostered a sense of community and connection among listeners, and his music, characterized by its blend of genres and emotional depth, continues to resonate with audiences while leaving a lasting impact on the music scene. As he continues to evolve as an artist, his journey reflects a dedication to personal growth, artistic expression, and the power of music to heal and connect, inviting listeners to join him in exploring the ever-changing landscape of sound and emotion.
