About Morgan Wallen
Morgan Cole Wallen, born 1993 in Sneedville Tennessee into a musical family. At an early age he was exposed to piano and violin lessons and singing in the Church choir, as well as hearing his Dad play classic rock anthems. However, baseball was his primary focus growing up. Morgan played shortstop and pitched for the Gibbs High School team; the same alma mater as fellow country star Kenny Chesney. After an injury sidelined him and extinguished his hopes to play in college, Wallen found himself working landscaping jobs after High School and unsure what he wanted to do next. This is when he started taking music more seriously and learned to play guitar. He fell in love with the music of Eric Church, Keith Whitley, and Alan Jackson as inspirations for his own sound. Morgan first saw the limelight musically in 2014 as a contestant on the 6th season of The Voice. Wallen made it to the playoffs on Adam Levine’s team during the show but was eliminated, he treated this setback as motivation to continue practicing harder and to leverage his new music connections. His vocal coach from the show, Sergio Sanchez, introduced him to executives at Panacea Records, which signed him and helped produce his first EP, Stand Alone (2015). The first single from this release, “Spin You Around”, would later be recognized as double-platinum by RIAA in 2021. Wallen then continued releasing singles leading up to his first LP, If I Know Me, which leads with the track “Up Down” (feat. Florida Georgia Line). The album also includes hit songs “Whiskey Glasses”, “Chasin’ You”, and “The Way I Talk”. This was his first release with his current label, Big Loud. Despite public backlash due to his drunken use of a racial slur on a night out with friends, Wallen continued to climb in popularity leading into his second release, Dangerous: The Double Album, this included hit tracks “Wasted On You”, “7 Summers”, “Sand In My Boots”, and the cover of Jason Isbell’s song, “Cover Me Up”. This album debuted at No. 1 and boasts the largest streaming week ever for a country album on Billboard. He followed this with a crossover hip hop collaboration with Lil Durk on the track “Broadway Girls”. Consistently keeping his fans happy with new music, Wallen continued releasing singles “You Proof”, “Thought You Should Know”, and “Don’t Think Jesus”, the latter highlighting his Christian upbringing as a preacher’s son and belief in forgiveness. 2023 saw the arrival of his third LP, One Thing At A Time, featuring popular tracks “Last Night”, “Man Made A Bar (feat. Eric Church)”, “Thinkin’ Bout Me”, “Cowgirls (feat. ERNEST)” and more. Another smash success, the album topped the Billboard 200 with the song “Last Night” also topping the singles chart. Wallen would end up occupying 5 of the top 10 singles spots, a rarely repeated feat. This time Morgan also began his world tour to over 65 venues. Recently, he performed in his home state of Tennessee at the UT Neyland Stadium. Wallen recently collaborated with Post Malone on the track “I Had Some Help” and also released his newest single “Love Somebody”. Morgan Wallen has achieved a unique sound, blending country singing with catchy guitar melodies, pop beats and authentic storytelling. He will continue to set the bar high for himself to the enjoyment of his fans.
