About Trippie Redd
Trippie Redd is one of the most prominent members of the SoundCloud rap scene that began in the late 2010’s. Trippie Redd is from Canton, Ohio although spent a great deal of his time in his younger years in the city of Columbus. His interest in music sparked when his mother would play music by Beyonce, Tupac and Nas at a young age. Trippie wrote his first song in middle school, and from there he dove deeper into creating art by exploring artists such as T-Pain, Kiss, Nirvana, Green Day, Gucci Mane, and Lil Wayne. Trippie unfortunately lost his brother in 2014 which caused him lots of trauma, but he was able to use his music as an escape. Trippie moved to Atlanta in 2016 and started working with Lil Wop. Lil Wop helped him get free studio time to dial in his sound on a professional level, along with the rise of the SoundCloud takeover. Trippie met Pierre Bourne in Atlanta who he became very close with, working intimately with him on new music. After releasing Luv Scars in November 2016, Trippie left for Los Angeles to further his career where he worked on the song Poles1469 with 6ix9ine produced by Pierre Bourne. The creation of Luv Scars grew his career tremendously with Lil Uzi dropping a song called Luv Scars not too much longer later. Trippie called Lil Uzi out for this and his numbers grew. 6ix9ine and Trippie decided to go their separate ways. XXXTentacion hit up Trippie Redd on social media and went on to collaborate at countless studio sessions. They would become the two kings of the SoundCloud underground trap space in 2016 and 2017. Trippie Redd released a lead single to his album Life’s a Trip, titled “Dark Night Dummo” with Travis Scott. The song peaked at number 72 on the US Billboard Hot 100. The song was certified platinum by June 6, 2018. Trippie Redd has 4 studio albums: Life’s a Trip (2019), ! (2019), Pegasus (2020) and Trip at Knight (2021). Trippie continues to grow his sound while contributing to the pop punk genre, as a feature on songs with Machine Gun Kelly, Travis Barker, blackbear, iann dior and others.
