About Jhonny Arteaga

Jhonny Arteaga is a former professional footballer who relocated from Cali, Colombia, to the United States at the age of 12. He grew up in Stamford, Connecticut, participating in local youth soccer leagues and playing at Westhill High School in Stamford. On a soccer scholarship, Jhonny attended Dominican College (NY) NCAA Division II, where he played four years of college soccer. In 2008, he graduated with a B.S. in Marketing Management. During his four years at Dominican College, Jhonny achieved remarkable success. He was a 3-time CACC (conference) Champion and played a pivotal role in the team achieving the highest-ever program NCAA national ranking, placing 5th in the nation in 2005. In 2007, he was honored as the Player of the Year - Top Goal Scorer in the CACC and named the Dominican College Most Valuable Player. That same year, he earned recognition as part of the NCAA Division II Daktronics All-American 1st Team and the NCAA Division II All-Region 1st Team. After his college career, Jhonny sought opportunities in the professional ranks. He turned professional by signing with the Western Mass Pioneers (USLPRO) in 2008, and in 2010, he ventured abroad to join the Polish team, LKS LOMZA, where he had a successful year before returning to the United States to continue his professional soccer career. In 2011, Jhonny signed with FC New York (USLPRO), where he achieved significant milestones. He earned the 2011 USL PRO Golden Boot as the Top Goal Scorer of the League, setting a single-season scoring record with 13 goals in 21 league games and 16 goals overall. Jhonny was a finalist for the US PRO Most Valuable Player and was selected to the USL PRO All-League 1st Team. That same year, he made appearances with the New York Red Bulls Reserve Team (MLS), scoring twice in two games played. Impressed by his performance during the 2012 Preseason, the New York Red Bulls of Major League Soccer officially signed Jhonny Arteaga to their 2012 Roster on March 5th, 2012. He served as an option off the bench throughout the season. In early 2013, Jhonny Arteaga signed a multi-year agreement to play for the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the USL-PRO, where he concluded his professional playing career in 2014. Alongside his professional career, Arteaga founded JA Elite Soccer Academy in 2011, aiming to provide young athletes with elite soccer training and education.
